GRASS FED BEEF

HOME GROWN WITH LOVE

NO STEROIDS ANTIBIOTICS OR HORMONES

Bobs Beef is a division of Revelation Farms that produces premium grass fed beef. No GMO's are used to make our cows grow faster or fatter.

Grass Fed beef has a lot of health benefits such as less total fat and over all calories. It is about 50% higher in Omega 3 fatty acid than standard beef and is proven to have more Zinc, Iron, Potassium, Phosphorus, Sodium & Vitamins A & E. In addition to that grass fed beef is also higher in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). CLA is a polyunsaturated fatty acid we must obtain from our diets that’s been shown to help fight cancer, discourage weight gain and build muscle. High-quality grass-fed beef is one of the top sources of CLA. These healthy fats are also important because they keep your blood sugar at a healthy level.

Our herd of Black Angus cattle roam free and munch on nothing but homegrown Orchard grass we make here at RF,

CUTS & COOKING INFORMATION

Many people like to purchase their meat in sides or quarters. This is beneficial not only for economical purposes but it also allows you to have a steady supply of meat to feed your family (or yourself, no judgement) for several months. Some find that a quarter (half of a side) is sufficient enough. A side of beef will often yield 350-450lbs of meat. A side consists of two parts, a Front Quarter and a Hind Quarter.

Front Quarter will be made up of Chuck, Rib, Brisket and Shank. Hind Quarter is made up of the Lion, Sirlion, Flank, Top Round, and Bottom Round.

These sections are divided up into smaller cuts. Primarily Roasts & Steaks or they are ground up for hamburger/sausages.  There are many different ways you can have a front quarter or hind quarter cut up and we will gladly assist you if you need help deciding.

Cooking GrassFed Beef

There are some key facts that are necessary to understand when cooking grass-fed beef. For starters it's usually much leaner, this means it's higher in protein and lower in fat, so it doesnt need as much time to cook. Grass-fed beef needs to be taken off the grill around 10 degrees before it hits desired temperature because it will continue to cook once removed from the heat. Once this has happened it's best to let the meat sit for 8-10 minutes covered, allowing the juices to redistribute.

Here are a couple of cooking tips that are sure to make you the reigning neighborhood pit master

1. KEEP IT WET: Adding Olive Oil to your grass-fed beef will not only enhance the flavor but it will also help it from sticking to the grill. Marinades are your best friend, especially on cuts that tend to be leaner like NY Strip or Sirloins.

2.GET LOW BABY: Knock the temperature down about 50 degrees lower than what your grain fed beef recipe calls for. The cooking time should be the same and sometimes it's even shorter than whats called for. Grass fed beef cooks quickly so you have to keep an eye on it. It can go from perfect to over cooked in a flash.

3. BE GENTLE:  Don't use forks to flip your meat, give it a more gentle touch by using tongs. Never thaw your meat using a microwave. Always thaw it in the refrigerator or under cool water if you're in a hurry. Lastly cook it at room temperature.
